Plastic mold design experience sharing

Hello, come to consult our products !

We have been making plastic molds for more than ten years, and we have had a lot of feelings along the way. Let me share with you my personal experience of plastic mold design. Making plastic molds is a relatively long-term process, so you must be patient.

1.First understand the product structure, analyze the product, determine the demolding direction to position the product, and then design the parting surface, and don’t forget to shrink and shrink when processing. If a multi-mold product is produced, Try not to line up too close.

2.Give the product a proper draft angle so that the product can be demolded well, and the thimble design should be reasonable.

3.There are many types of gate designs, which can be divided into: point pouring, ambush gate, and direct pouring. Point pouring is to feed the material at a point on the surface of the product as the gate. Generally, a small arc is made when the product allows, so that the point of the pouring hole will not scratch your hands. The point gate depends on the size of the product, not too much Don’t be too big or too small. The ambush gate is generally to hit the gate on the side surface or feed the material from the thimble. The advantage of the ambush gate is that the material can be automatically cut off and the surface can not be seen. Direct pouring is to feed the material directly from the runner opening.

4.The design of runners, runners are divided into main runners and branch runners. The main runner should be thicker than the branch runner. The runner should be as long as possible. The runner should be too long to let the cold material run away. The runner should try to avoid dead corners. The smooth points can increase the fluidity of the material.

5. The thimble design, the countersunk head of the thimble should not be placed too deep, as required, the depth is 0.05MM, the thimble should not be too tight, and the hand can be pressed, and it should not be too loose. If it is loose, the material will run out. For processing these holes, they must be vertical, not too biased, the thimble plate hole can be 0.1mm larger, and the thimble must be able to swing when installed.
